It is sometimes easy to make a prediction but this time it was a bit hard. My prediction was kind of right. I missed out some things.

Balancing on the beam
We are learning how to balance on a beam in Gymnastics. We have to carefully climb on the beam and stand up. We have to put our aeroplanes arms out to help us balance. We then have to walk all the way to the other side. Sometimes we have to turn and go back too. It can be scary sometimes because the beam wobbles when we walk on it. We are all getting better at balancing on the beam!
Using other punctuation
I am learning when to use other punctuation
e.g. comma, exclamation mark, question mark, apostrophe, speech marks
Today it was Corey's birthday. Corey is my brother. I got Corey Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, my Mum got Corey a camera and 20 dollars and Nana Cooper got Corey 100 dollars. Now Corey has 120 dollars. He's lucky! My dog and cat got Corey a Pokemon thing. Corey had a fun birthday. After school me and my Mum are going to make him a cake.
I am proud of myself because I can use different punctuation in my writing. I know how to use all of them but not in this story.

Non fiction books
I am learning to describe the features of a non-fiction text.
The book ‘The Biggest Land Animal” is a non-fiction text. I know it is non-fiction because:
Photos
What type of pictures are in this book?
|
Photos
|
Index
What does the index tell us?
|
If you want to read your favourite page you can find the numbers.
|
Glossary
What does the glossary tell us?
|
Tells us what the words are.
|
Why do we read non-fiction books?
|
To learn about animals and other things.
|
What have you learnt from reading this book?
|
What elephants have.
|
This activity was easy for me because I read lots of non fiction books and I know lots about them.
Adding details
I am learning to add some detail to my writing.
Lucky the Whale
One
day in the blue sea there was a whale called Lucky. She had ten friends. Her
best friend was called Emily. They were very best friends. When Lucky was a
baby Emily was a baby too. Lucky and Emily had the same birthday. Lucky and
Emily’s birthday was on the 2nd August. When it was the 2nd
August Lucy and Emily were happy. Then Lucky’s friend came.
I always add lots of detail to my story. Sometimes I need to look at my plan to help me remember all of them.

St John Visit
Mac from St John came to talk to the children at Elm Park School about safety and first Aid. He brought his mini ambulance Amby along with him. Mac taught Room 11 about who to call when there is an emergency. We looked at different pictures and had to decide if we needed to call for the police, the firemen or an ambulance. We had actions that we had to do to show Mac that we knew who to call!

Shape Monster
I am learning to name and describe plane shapes.
We are learning about Geometry in Room 11. We are learning to name plane shapes and to say how many sides and corners the shape has. We created shape monsters and wrote a description about them.
I found it hard to colour in the shape monster. I found it easy to make the eyes. I forgot how many sides it had so I had to count them.

Youthtown
Room 11 has been going to Youthtown this term. We have been learning how to throw a ball at a target. We learned that you need to have your one arm in an L shape ready to throw the ball. The other arm needs to be pointing at the target. Then we have to do a power throw and try to hit the target. Sometimes we hit the cones and sometimes the ball goes in a different direction.
Word Clouds
I am learning to use describing words in my writing.
I like describing words. It was easy to describe Roly-Poly Bird. I like my word cloud.

Writing Term One
My favourite sea creature has a big shell. It has little arms. Some are big and some are little. I love it. They eat seaweed.
I am learning to sound out words in my writing and to underline my try words.
I try to write long sentences. I think it is tricky to sound out all the words.

Self-Portrait
I have been learning how to draw my self-portrait. First Mrs Scott came to show us how to sketch our face. We sketched our face shape first. Then we drew our guidelines to help us remember where our eyes, nose, mouth and ears went. We practised using a whispering pencil and a shouting pencil. Our first sketch looked a bit funny so we tried again. This time we used a photo of us to help us. We had to start all over again! Miss Radue then helped us rub out all the whispering pencil guidelines and photocopied our sketches so they were bigger. We had to go around our sketch with vivid and then we used pastel to colour in our self-portraits. It was hard work but we had a lot of fun!
